At your initial consultation you will be asked some questions about you, important relationships and what you hope to get out of your sessions. You will also discuss the best times for your sessions and the cost of counselling. Importantly this session provides an opportunity to find out if you feel comfortable sharing and working with Georgia.
If you wish to proceed with counselling after your initial session, Georgia will support you to move on from where you are now by giving you:
- Space and time to explore what matters to you
- A chance to be heard and understood
- The possibility to look at challenges from a fresh perspective
- The opportunity to develop the skills you need to make the changes you want
More specifically, she will listen to your concerns and ask questions about you, your relationships, your past, your feelings, your expectations and hopes for the future. These questions will be designed to help you reflect on your current challenges and identify what changes can be made to help you move on.
I use a mix of counselling approaches, tailoring them to suit my clients' needs. They include psychodynamic (which focuses on the past), systemic (which places particular importance on the relationships you have and meaning they have for you) and solutions-focused (which focuses on your future goals and the steps you need to take to get there).
